YWAM Sydney Newtown is now ‘government-official’

We are pleased to announce that we’ve officially taken over the legal structure from the former YWAM Sydney Hills base with Ryan and I and a new board appointed.

In brief, YWAM Sydney Hills closed down several years ago but kept their legal structure in place. What this means for us is that we don’t need to set up the incorporated association, gain approval through the Department of Fair Trading, and several other legalities. The legal structure itself already has a lot of exemptions and registered accounts with various vendors so this is a wonderful blessing to us—a lot of detailed work we get to step right into.

We thank God for this wonderful provision and for all the YWAMers who’ve paved the way for us to pioneer in inner Sydney. Our special thanks goes to Robin and Mark Cockburn (former leaders of YWAM Sydney Hills), as well as many other leaders from around Sydney area such as: Brent and Kathy Williams, Dean and Michelle Sherman, Steve and Wendy Wells, Paul and Sandra Richards, Bruce and Kris Skinner, Etienne and Tania Pieterse, Tom and Diana Hallas, Tasik and Sun Ha, and many, many others.

Although it often feels like we’re starting from scratch, events like this are an important reminder that we’re absolutely not. As the saying goes: we stand on the shoulders of those who’ve gone before us.

p.s. A little peak into our first board meeting:
